Ouch. Another in a continuing saga of how getting old sucks. (Yes, I’m aware that in general it’s better than the alternative, but still.) I was sitting in my easy chair minding my own business, and pulled a muscle in my neck reaching up to scratch an itch on the back of my head. Not seriously, at least, but enough to warrant a couple ibuprofen and now maybe a heating pad when I finish typing this. 🤬

I don't know how popular they ever were outside of Milan, Italy but I miss (badly, proper nostalgia) old-school PC shops.
The ones with dusty-on-arrival Lotus 1-2-3 boxes, and 4MB RAM sticks, and occasional fancy CPUs ("We're getting two MMX next week!") and/or VESA video card.
In my case, the shop came with a family friend behind the counter so I miss it even more, but I miss them in general.

I was at the gas station yesterday in my EV. I needed windshield washer fluid and a place to dispose of some garbage that had accumulated.
I thought about getting a chocolate bar, but decided against.
Then I left.
This never gets old. Not having to go to gas stations, like, ever, is seriously one of the best things about owning an EV.

The wife and I decided to shopping for a new mattress today and we ended buying this Nectar mattress(king size) to replace our 8 year old mattress.
This is a memory foam mattress, which we've never owned before, so definitely going to be interesting to see how it is once it arrives, which is due to happen April 9th - 12th.

You know what seems ridiculously UNDERpriced to me? Photo printing. I just got an excellent-quality 8x10 of one of my favorite photos on non-glossy paper for a big C$6.29. Upload the un-resized 4Kx3K 3.7M photo, pick it up an hour later.
At the photolab (For Canadians: In London Drugs) there was a steady flow of people getting passport pix, scanning old family photos, picking up print jobs. It was kind of heartwarming.

Spent about 4 hours with WoW yesterday, mostly in Valdrakken. It was playable again.. This i5-6400/RX6800 makes it so much better than the previous i5-920/1050TI could manage at the "7" graphics preset (High, I guess?) Getting set up for the AMD 7600X upgrade. Gonna assemble most of the main board, then pop out the old one so I can swap over the DeepCool heat sink. Drop in the new kit and see if it boots. Then, testing. Then, games.

Oh, and the reason I alluded to earlier for not doing a thread is that I only just thought of doing what would hopefully have become a long, drawn out thread.
So this will be the official grand opening, with the previous couple of whiny toots about getting old being sort of a soft opening. Yeah, that’s it.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

State lifetime 100% disability was suddenly and unexpectedly at bureaucratic risk, as in not receiving any prior notice whatsoever, whereupon scary letter. I remember getting an orange iBook (pictured in post) simply because it was the one we could get the quickest to check it out.
I remember thinking I was going to hate the orange, and by the time it was too old to use. I was wishing I could scoop out the innards and upgrade it, and keep using the case.
Fucker was indestructible too; I SLAPPED it 7 feet into asphalt, and it didn’t even damage it (I slipped on ice while carrying trash in the other hand).

With this May-like weather I'm getting a jump on some landscaping projects. First up - remove an old concrete base that was supposed to be for a fire pit. Discovering that I do good concrete work. It's tough going to break it up and cut the rebar. If I don't procrastinate this will all be lawn by mid June.
